A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park has really inspired many of you! Please Sanaa's paragraph about Salva ... it is quite amazing!! A Long Walk to Water by Sanaa In the story A Long Walk to Water, an 11 year old living in South Sudan, named Salva, is in a tight situation. He was forced to leave the place he knew as home. It all started when Salva was at school… Suddenly, he heard gunfire and everyone hid under desks. They were all waiting for it to stop but, it kept firing over and over again. At that moment in time the teacher asked everyone to head into the bush and stay away from all the commotion and conflict. Salva wanted to run straight to his family in his village but, he couldn’t, he shouldn’t, he wouldn’t. As Salva ran for cover he tripped over a stick. He quickly scrambled to his feet and continued on his way bumping and making his way through the crowd of villagers screaming for their lives. When everyone finally stopped in silence a villager yelled that maybe everyone should group by tribe. Salva waited for his tribe to be called and when it did he would go to it. When it was called he scanned all the faces hoping that someone in his family was there but, nothing not even someone he knew was there. Everyone scattered in different directions in their tribes. As darkness fell Salva’s tribe was able to find shelter for the night. |
